Located in the hill country of Austin, Texas, BigCommerce expands their HQ office space with a beautiful new first floor layout and design. I was given the opportunity to research, plan, and design an effective user experience for both visitors and employees as they orientate and navigate through the office space.

The interior of the new office space features a large amount of meeting rooms and collaboration spaces to meet the demand of the company’s recent increase in employees. Part of the challenge was to find a clear and easy way for employees to find these meeting spaces. The solution was to divide the office space into four zones, each distinguished by its own letter and color. A unique naming convention coupled with distinct iconography was then assigned to each zone with each room in a given zone named according to its unique convention.
After conducting user interviews and performing user tests with temporary signage and maps, ideal placements and orientation were determined for each map informed by the data collected. I then worked with a sign making company to finalize the materials to be used for the maps and signage. The result was a beautiful set of installations that complemented the vibrant murals and artwork found throughout the interior of the office.
